A two storey italianate style dwelling built of local quarried basalt with brick dressings in 1864 for James Dickson, cordial manufacturer. Theseven room dwelling with single storey verandah and stucco facade is enhanced with traditional italianate details of modest eaves brackets, quoins and ruled stucco. Following the 1890's depression the building was let as a boarding house.
James Dickson was a celebrated Scottish born cordial manufacturer and patentee of Victorian Eucalyptus
